The Buoys – Lustre

The Buoys’ “Lustre” is the album people have been waiting for for some time with an ability to combine social commentary into guitar rock. Sydney-based Zoe Catterall leads the four-piece group that succeeded in embodying women’s current liberation sentiment with engaging lyrics and catchy tunes. Such songs as “Subject A” challenge the male domination while embracing oneself at the same time, giving the listeners an empowering song. Working with Alex Lahey in “Cheque Mate” brings a whole new level, where the group is bringing out songs with calls to reason, but put in melodies one can sing along to. Finally, Lustre proves itself to be an evidence of how The Buoys grew and developed to be a force to reckon in the Aussie alt-rock scene.
