The twelfth studio album of The Black Keys, “Ohio Players”, does not sound like an experimentations; it can be described as rather weary, albeit, familiar. To some extent, it’s more of the same presented by Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney, but their album isn’t quite as strong as their previous works. However, they have worked with some famous artists including Noel Gallagher and Beck which is very intriguing but all in all the band seems very complacent. Songs like “Wild Child” and “It Ain’t Over” can boast good guitars and refrain, but perhaps that is precisely why they do not elicit the enthusiasm that was initially provoked. The album is rather close to the classic rock and roll instead of being a powerful protest statement. Ohio Players has some flaws yet is a great example of the duo’s abilities and can be appreciated as their work, which originates in the rock genre.
