My review starts off this Big No No single, “Hold Your Horses” with wonderful twangy guitar and quick rise to a really loose hard rock performance. And on top of that those vocal melodies on a sea of so much energy and so memorable guitar stabs, it feels so power pop of an 80s and 90s throwback but with enough of a twist to give it freshness. The lyrical title refrain – with its catchy yet not actually called apart hook – hooks the listener into the groove: the added distortion provides the fun to the playful mentions strewn all over the track. From a distance, a big guitar riff rises, it returns to the spot closest to the ends of the song, and then “sing along” comes in, making the listener to be part of such force the band with the producer Christoffer comes up with an interesting rock song with touches of silliness and fun. Immortally this always means being ‘’Hold Your Horses’’ is an exciting, and let’s hope, entertaining beginning of what will hopefully prove to be an exciting album ride.
