You Might Find Me" - A Lush and Captivating Indie-Rock Voyage

The widely acclaimed Chicago based Many Places have, in the best ways possible, continued to reign the indie-rock throne with their new hit single, “You Might Find Me”. All through the song’s opening measures listeners are immersed in a superb tapestry of sound and feeling. The track carries an urbane rock calmness yet it is further full complex weaveworks, trumpets and saxophone coupled with Elliot’s beautiful guitar firmament to give the piece an opulent drapery of allure. And still, only when you’d think that you know what is going on, that the song has entered a familiar pattern repeats, the song changes its tune and we get a gorgeous bridge to an even more muscular, multi-voiced verse that would make one gasp.

What, however, is far more significant is how ‘You Might Find Me’ manages to glide effortlessly from moments of the full lush orb to the distorted charismatic core. Softer elements can be heard throughout the chorus where emotive vocals are supported by crunchy guitar riffs before the song really kicks into high gear in the second half where soaring brass lines are added to the mix, all of which gives the song an epic feel as the band proves that they are unafraid to alternate between clean soaring melodies and a much rougher, grungier sound. For those fans that have been following Many Places since the beginning “ It’s a lesson, really, that a band who has been playing the Chicago indie-rock scene for more than a decade is still complex and interesting in new ways with each record.
