Villanelle & The Northern Wonder Cast a Spellbinding 'Mirage'

The Manchester based Villanelle & The Northern Wonder conjured exciting Kramer & Kramer magic with the new ‘Mirage’ EP. Quirky, suave, build-gothic gravitational detector stations of our basic rock n’ roll strata of the ‘70s glamorized through the grandstand charisma of the vocals, organ solos, and twanged guitars. The electricity of the songs’ opener, “December Bloom,” was promised and the rest of the EP met its expectations.Cuts like the bass thumping, piano-influenced intense “Gold Standard,” gave me some Last Shadow Puppets vibes. Still, ‘Blue Eyed Boy’ leaves with stylistic balance hazy organs, and cold vocals from dual-voiced entrancement that initially congregates a dark Americana mood akin to Nick Cave’s. The Villanelle & The Northern Wonder band’s musical hits mesmerize and canopize the ear with a charismatic creepy and sensual sound of rocking instrumentals.
