Before it Ends is a song of Joshua and Brian presented under the monicker Toy Dinosaur that should be listened to in order to be reminded that everything must end, so one must enjoy the now. Soft acoustics and vibrant fingerpicked guitars envelop the listener in a warm embrace, a nice sync with thoughtful-vocalists ‘Forlorn’ and ‘The Fading.’ But, you know, it’s depressing as hell — there’s the rub, and here is the rub that makes punk songs into classics; the reminder, however much one might want to be alone… Loneliness has never been sung quite as beautifully as this… The vocal leap halfway through the song is a throaty, shouty, emotional tour de force that has more grim determination and animal courage than a hundred Replacements’ songs have had commit. As the twangy guitar, dies into a full bodied harmonious ending, “Before it Ends” creates a memorable imprint, a tender gesture to get a hold of life while it lasts.
