SCHPILT, Tempe, Arizona’s modern J-pop duo, deliver their active performances on the new song called “Spin It.” Guitar rumination and emotional screaming at the beginning gradually build up the wall of rock energy from minute one with suave, yet powerful vocals. Almost immediately this subtle shift in key brings out the best architectural qualities of the band by a fair margin.The build afterwards is compelling: hard-rocking anthemic sections mirror and alternate with thoughtful introductions which yields an exciting roller-coaster feeling in terms of climax. Describing tracks that follow the blistering intensity with introspective restraint within the same song is valuable proof of songwriting talent.As for a band from the Tempe scene, “Spin it” should be definitely mentioned; SCHPILT starts as a promising rock band with a clear view of mid-nostalgic post-punk. Its ability to switch within the parameters of its sound also creates a remembrance with the audience.
