Losing no time to get started, Holysloot’s new single, “Plans for Later” creates a perfect expectation with its rather posh vocals accompanied by vigorous bass splashes that fuse to make a perfect musical cocktail. The Amsterdam-based collective painlessly swaps from heavy grimy post punk type thing to a beautiful synth-induced wash in which one can gild away. It is from this point that we can get a good feel of the growing interplay between synth and guitar as the track moves forward: there is a strong drive here that makes our attention firmly fixed on them – they are engaging us. The last sixty seconds coupled with twangy embrace adds one more minute of exciting zest at the end of the entire experience. It is not a song, “Plans for Later” is the proclamation of willingness to accept change and everything that comes with it.
